Stoichiometry of tricalcium silicate hydration
Research was carried out at Research Institute of Cement Industry in Dusseldorf, West Germany to establish whether, with change in mixing water addition, amount of water bound by tricalcium silicate remains constant although composition of calcium silicate hydrate changes; tricalcium silicate was mixed with various amounts of water, and after various times degree of hydration, content of nonevaporable water and calcium hydroxide content were determined; from these results it was possible to calculate amount of water bound by tricalcium silicate and composition of calcium silicate hydrate.
