Effect of settlements of footings on tall reinforced concrete structures
Approximate method is proposed for estimating magnitudes and effects of differences in footings' settlement in nonuniform foundation soil on continuous structures; formulas are derived for easy evaluation of order of magnitude of additional moments which should be taken into consideration; effects of foundation beam height, beam span, soil load bearing capacity, absolute magnitude of settlements, and load magnitude are discussed.
