Ductility of building frames under earthquake loads
In designing frames for blast and seismic loadings, familiar M/EI diagram can be conveniently adapted for rapid computation of frame ductility; equivalent moment-area diagram includes ordinates that are made proportional to elastic and plastic strains of particular steel used; large lateral movements indicated by analysis of plastic strains were verified by tests conducted on two-story frame.
