For reasons of city planning, 106& times;118 m three-level building was erected around six 15×20 m patios, tops of which are flush with ground level, thus making it invisible from neighboring avenues; work was particularly difficult since it involved deep excavations adjacent to existing buildings; retaining walls required use of thixotropic mud and anchoring by tie-bars to foundations of existing buildings.
