North American practice in glue laminated timber bridges
Range of bridge types and span dimensions currently used in North America and elsewhere are given; materials used for glue lamination are discussed with respect to timber species and grades, timber preservatives and adhesive types; design practice in North America with reference to live loadings and allowable stresses is included and, where possible, related to British conditions; descriptions and drawings of girders, transverse diaphragms and timber, or timber-concrete composite deck construction are given together with details of shear connectors, deck nailing, expansion joints and bearings; brief descriptions of structures and erection procedures are given.
