Two new, continuous, box-girder spans cross Schuylkill River at historic Upper Ferry in Philadelphia, Pa; floating bridges, timber arch, wire bridge and steel truss have spanned river at site since 1776; alternative designs in prestressed concrete and steel, planned to same general dimensions, resulted in slightly lower bids than submitted for steel structures.
