High-level bridge with deep foundations
Construction of prestressed bridge by cantilever method; bridge, apart from having fairly large spans, is remarkable for unconventional method employed for construction of pier foundations; average natural depth of water along line of bridge was 15 to 20 m, and for one of piers in mid-channel, bottom had to be excavated to depth of 35 m; problem of tall caisson foundations, biggest was about 32 m high, was solved by making "dry dock" of steel sheet piling and casting 4-m high frustum and about 2 m of shaft in this.
