Dynamic behaviour of Yarra river bridge
As first stage in study of dynamic characteristics of bridges, experimental and theoretical investigations were made of simply-supported, single-lane, girder bridge with prestressed concrete deck slabs spanning Yarra River in Amuri County; methods used, results obtained, and conclusions drawn are reported; deflection measurement and resonance testing; fundamental frequency determined experimentally was 8.25 cps which compares with computed values of 6.2 and 8.6 cps; investigation indicates that dynamic increment increases linearly with velocity of vehicle crossing bridge, varies inversely with mass ratio, and almost full composite action of structure under dynamic loading is verified.
