Lateral distribution of load in composite box girder bridges
Computer program for analysis of folded plate structures of general form was used to study lateral distribution of load in simple span composite box girder bridges without transverse diaphragms or internal stiffeners; results were used to develop simple expressions for loads carried by interior and exterior girders in this type of bridge; accuracy of analysis was confirmed by results of tests of quarter-scale model of two-lane, 80-ft span bridge supported by three box girders.
