Study on free vibration of curved girder bridges
Studies on free vibration of curved girder bridge are complicated because bending vibrations in orthogonal directions are generally coupled with torsional vibrations; object of this paper is to present fundamental equation for freely vibrating curved girder bridge with unsymmetrical cross section and to obtain approximate solution of frequency equation; from these results, practical formulas for determining natural frequencies are proposed; validity of this theory is verified by comparison with results obtained from experimental studies.
