Foam insulation fills walls fast
Foam was injected into cavity masonry walls after they were constructed for General Electric Silicone Products Dept building at Waterford, NY, and for three-story building for Eastman Kodak at Rochester, NY; at General Electric building, workmen set 1/4-in. plastic tubes on 3-ft grid as they erected outside brick facing; tubes gave access to 2-in. cavity between facing brick and 6-in. concrete block backup; when outside work was complete, polyurethane was injected through tubes into cavity; polyurethane 1 in. thick is roughly equivalent to 3 in. of regular insulating materials; thus its use in two buildings reduced wall thickness by 4 in.
