A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
New type of vertical-wall breakwater composed of single row of large steel pipes with diameter of some 1.5 to 3.0 m driven into sea bottom, is proposed for water areas which are not directly exposed to the sea; experiments for fundamental study were conducted in medium wave channel of hydraulic laboratory in Osaka City University, and model experiments were performed at 1/10 scale in large wave tank in Field Hydraulic Laboratory for practical design of steel pipe breakwater planned to be built in Port of Osaka.
