Rotational capacity of reinforced concrete beams
Use of all limit design theories to predict moment rotation relationships of structural members is discussed; investigation was carried out to improve on accuracy of methods for predicting moment-rotation relationships of reinforced concrete beams; tests on 40 beams are reported; results of these tests and of previous tests on 37 beams are analyzed; variables considered include size, beam width, reinforcement index, and binding by closed stirrups; method is proposed for computation of rotational capacity of hinging regions in reinforced concrete beams.
