Finite element analysis of reinforced concrete beams
Several examples of singly reinforced concrete beams on simple supports with different idealized cracking patterns are analyzed and results are presented for comparison and discussion; effect of assumed stiffness of bond links is also examined briefly; purpose of paper is to demonstrate feasibility and to explore potentialities as well as difficulties of using finite element method, with ultimate aim of developing general analytical method for study of reinforced concrete members in full range of loading.
