Basement floors of building accommodate garage and service areas; ground floor is for shops; two floors above that contain prestige office space, topped by club and facilities floor; beginning with fifth floor an apartment tower rises 46 stories; column spacing is completely different, transition to new spacing being made by heavy steel girders; innovations include cooling towers and mechanical equipment above fourth floor, where structure is set back for apartment tower; to 35th floor, concrete was placed by crawler cranes with booms 400 ft long; above that conventional hoist raises material; tower is of flat-plate design, utilizing lightweight, high-strength concrete.
