Applications of cooling towers in large air conditioning systems
Installation of water cooling towers on roof of Millbank Tower, Vickers Ltd 34-story building in London, England, for air conditioning of building; two Thermotank induced draft counterflow towers, each capable of cooling 1100 gpm from 98 to 80 F with 68 F wet bulb are installed on roof of Main Tower block; roof structure serves as sump and towers are surrounded by structural walls; extract air from building is arranged to discharge through louvers in one of walls surrounding towers, providing efficient protection against freezing of sump water in winter.
