Pittsburgh Area Transportation Study to predict future tripmaking as distributed between automobile and mass transit; transit tripmaking was estimated first and automobile trips were treated as residual; it was found that basic amount of transit tripmaking could be estimated by traffic zone using such independent variables as car ownership, net residential density, and distance from central business district.
