Usual method of determining positions and locations of lines and corners is through exploratory and accessory surveys, aggregated and compiled with other record data; computations are made and analyzed to establish most satisfactory positions; theory of proportionate measurement is permissive for analysis, but must be rigidly controlled in use since it fails to distinguish between systematic and random error; sources of records and other data are classified.
