Methods of computing rating extensions above previous maximum flood for river forecasting; "Stevens Method" is compared with "Slope-Conveyance Method"; basic differences between extension of existing ratings and development of entirely synthetic ratings are emphasized; Stevens method is modified through inclusion of "Offset Technique" for use of method in extending rating curve over previously unwetted flood plain.
