Bearing capacity of piles in cohesionless soils
Method of computing ultimate bearing capacity of pile driven into cohesionless soils is derived empirically from number of load-tests involving various types of piles all loaded to failure; solution is based on consideration of pile taper, roughness and shape of pile surface and volume of pile; comparison of computed and observed ultimate bearing capacities reveals good agreement.
