Factors affecting angle of slope in open cast mines
Instantaneous stripping ratio, is suggested as criterion for use in design of pit slopes and as index of control at all stages of exploitation of orebody; this criterion may also be related to safety and to maximizing of profits; 2 approaches to safe design of slopes, from point of view of soil and rock mechanics, are compared; effect on slope stability of regional tectonic stress field; application of effective stress concept to problems in soil and rock environments.
