Dynamic design and behavior of compensated foundations with friction piles
Simplified working hypotheses are presented and case of uniformly spaced piles is considered; piles are driven in highly compressible soil mass and may be considered as incompressible as compared to surrounding soil; soil mass is under continuous compression due to consolidation; shear stress of unaltered clay is constant with depth and that of clay kneaded and reconsolidated along ring surrounding piles is proportional to effective vertical stress on clay mass; observations derived from study of old buildings in Mexico are mentioned.
