Buckling of thin shells under external pressure
Use of bending theory of circular cylindrical shells that are under influence of initial stress in establishing value of hydrostatic and constant-directional pressure for buckling; results are compared with those of previous investigations; simplified accurate expressions for buckling pressure applicable to any combination of shell dimensions are presented.
