Limit analysis of cylindrical shells
Load carrying capacity of circular cylindrical shells simply supported at both ends and subjected to axisymmetric hydrostatic load; shell material is assumed to obey inscribing hexagonal approximation to Tresca yield curve for axisymmetrical bending of cylindrical shells with zero end load; values of limit loads are plotted against wide range of shell parameter; for long shells, curve is shown to be asymptotic to limit load given by membrane analysis.
