Contribution to failure calculation of reinforced concrete; purpose of study is to establish, according to methods of statistical correlation, failure laws valid for simply reinforced rectangular beams in bending, and computation of most probable value of failure load and its 95% confidence limit; study yields basis of probabilistic design method for use in adjusting steel strength and concrete strength, for maximum service load, in order to get very small failure risk of order of 10-6.
