Damping in discrete linear elastic systems, D
Study of elastic systems with viscous damping; it is shown that if damping matrix can be expressed as linear combination of matrixes that depend only on mass and stiffness, then damped and undamped normal modes of vibration are identical regardless of whether damping is large or small; it is shown how damping matrix can be constructed when damping ratios in normal modes of vibration are known.
