Strata control in coal mines
Observations of strata movements associated with workings; loads carried by supports; physical properties of supports, and of coal measure strata; load on supports at coal face bears no definite relation to depth of seam; it is suggested that load depends upon thickness of beds which become detached from superjacent strata in region of working face. (See also - v 10 n 3 Jan 1939 p 335-53 (discussions) p 354-68)
