A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Ordinary theory of elasticity is inadequate for studying stresses in statically indeterminate concrete arch which when under load, yields with time as well as stress and does not obey Hooke's law; writer's analysis based on experiment provides more general statement of displacements and deformations; locally overstressed point does not relieve itself as result of plastic flow; conclusions as to proper time for removal of centering. (see also discussions in nos. 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10, May 1930, pp. 1093-1105, Apr., pp. 887-893, Aug., pp. 1437-1445, Sept., pp. 1713-1712, and Dec., pp. 2163-2165, 2 figs)
