Advantages of this type of street surfacing are (1) road may be opened for traffic as soon as filler has been applied, (2) service cuts and openings are easily and simply repaired, (3) it carries minimum risk in construction since serious defects do not result through careless workmanship, etc., (4) steps in construction are simple, (5) filler is easily manipulated and not subject to damage by frost, rain or premature traffic, (6) noise is eliminated, (7) it provides ideal, nonskid, smooth-riding surface for automobiles, etc. Paper read before Am.
