Constructed by Imber Court Engineering Works, Thames Ditton, Surrey, for British Admiralty during war. Working conditions to be fulfilled were that crane with post 50 ft. high was to lift 3-ton load up to platform 100 ft. high. Wooden construction was adopted in preference to steel in order to save weight.
