Computers in planning -- Operating water resource projects
Application of digital computer by TVA engineers for planning developments in tributary areas of Tennessee Valley; examples of computer use are presented which illustrate computer characteristics and advantages in computation of water surface profiles, in operating 39 multiple-purpose dam and reservoir system, as mathematical hydrologic watershed model in which form of unit hydrograph for each of many unit areas is represented by γ-type function, and in application which solves basic differential equations for unsteady, nonuniform flow -- equations of continuity and conservation of momentum or energy.
