Dynamic problems in civil engineering structures
Survey of present state of knowledge in various fields of civil engineering involving vibration problems; dynamic stresses of live load on bridges and wind effects on tall slender structures are briefly reviewed and general conclusions drawn; response of structure to earthquake is examined in detail; computation of such response constitutes transient vibration problem; it is shown how problem can be solved, for needs of current practice, by means of modal analysis and response spectra method.
