Sufficient conditions for uniqueness of incremental response and overall stability are established and discussed for elastic plastic trusses containing unstable members; criteria consist of positive definiteness of matrices built up with elastic influence coefficients of bar-forces for dislocations and with plastic compliances of members at yield point; normality of incremental plastic displacement vector in load-space is shown to hold, irrespective of instability, nonlinearity in elastic range and changes of elastic behavior due to plastic strains; convexity of loading surfaces is also discussed, with special reference to case of nonlinear elastic response of some members.
