Probability of structural failure under earthquake acceleration
Method is presented to find upper and lower bounds of probability that simple structure will fail under random loading of earthquake type; structure considered is one-story building treated as system of mass, spring and dashpot with single-degree of freedom; failure is assumed to occur when absolute value of displacement of mass exceeds critical value.
