A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Simple scheme is devised to calculate stiffness, carryover factor, and fixed-end moment of nonuniform members under axial load either in tension or in compression; based on concept that influence of axial load and nonuniformity of cross section may be accounted for separately, it permits rapid determination of these constants by using existing design aids; results of this investigation strongly indicate that proposed method can be expected to yield satisfactory results in most practical cases.
