Behavior of diaphragm-braced columns and beams
Theory predicting failure load of elastic I-section members laterally restrained by shear-resistant diaphragms is developed; shear rigidity, which can vary substantially because of connector and other details, is principal characteristic of diaphragm considered; this rigidity was determined experimentally; test series of double-column-diaphragm assemblies gave good agreement between theoretically predicted values and test failure loads.
