Limit analysis of notched tension specimens
Proposed theorems are restated for case of plane stress and then applied to study of safety factor of circular notched tension specimens; material is assumed to be isotropic, perfectly plastic and obeys R.Mises yield criterion; study involves finding effect of assumed stress and velocity fields, radius of notch, and height to width ratio of specimens on both bounds; bounds of special case are compared to those obtained by W.Prager and P.G.Hodge for same case assuming plane strain condition; solution of circular notched tension specimens are modified in order to apply results to v-notched specimens.
