A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Expressions are developed for stiffness of uniformly yielded steel member; flexural stiffness is shown to be nonzero for all yielded configurations of member, and thus nonzero buckling loads may be obtained; stiffness expressions are developed by considering discontinuous nature of yielding of structural steel, and they are presented for later use in buckling analysis of members in plastically designed steel frames.
