Alloying of open hearth steel with exothermic ferroalloys in ladle
Exothermic mixtures of ferrochromium and ferromanganese with sodium nitrate, in form of briquets bound with waterglass, are absolutely suitable for alloying steels with low chromium contents; nitrogen content of steel is not increased, and there is no decrease in its impact strength. (see also English translation in Stal in English n 5 May 1965 p 363-6)
