Influence of alloying elements on resistance of austenitic steels to corrosion cracking in concentrated chloride solutions
Accelerated stress corrosion tests were made on steels in concentrated chloride solutions, to determine influence of alloying elements; resistance of chromium-nickel and chromium-nickel-manganese steels to corrosion cracking increases with increasing nickel content; manganese and molybdenum have adverse influence on resistance of high nickel steels, and 0.4% of boron increases resistance of chromium-nickel steels to stress corrosion. (English translation of Zashchita Metallov)
