Causes of initiation of brittleness in ferritic-austenitic stainless steels
Aging (in ferrite) in EI811 and EP53 type steels containing 0.4 to 0.6% titanium, proceeds during heating at 400 to 600 C; it increases strength and decreases plasticity; during initial stages of aging, new phase is forming mostly over boundary and in body of grain; presence of larger precipitations along boundaries is main cause of embrittlement of steels; results of experiments are discussed. (see also English translation in Metal Science and Heat Treatment n 3-4 Mar-Apr 1965 p 177-80)
