Irrotational flow over spillways of finite height
Potential theory is used to analyze free-surface, irrotational flow over spillways of finite height; numerical values were obtained for free-surface coordinates, pressures on surface of spillway, and discharge coefficients for three separate spillway shapes; spillways considered included one corresponding to shape of nappe produced by flow over ventilated, sharp-crested weir, one corresponding to shape of nappe produced by flow over ventilated, sharp-crested weir with negative pressure head beneath nappe equal to one-half head on weir, and one having vertical upstream face, cylindrical crest, and downstream tangent inclined 30° from vertical.
