Effect of variations in Poisson's ratio on soil triaxial testing
Effect of variations in Poisson's ratio on apparent elastic modulus and apparent Poisson's ratio as determined from conventional soil triaxial test is investigated; assuming that soil behaves elastically, true elastic constants, Young's modulus of elasticity and Poisson's ratio, can be determined by applying corrections to apparent values obtained in triaxial testing; numerical solutions are presented for three values of Poisson's ratio and two values of height to diameter ratio.
