Experimental researches on stress relaxation under uniaxial compression of compacted unsaturated soils
Results of experiments on stress relaxation under condition of unconfined compression with regard to thermal effect of compacted unsaturated soils are discussed; soil samples used in experiments include clay minerals with dissimilar constituents and clay-sand mixtures; it is shown that relaxation characteristics of compacted unsaturated soils are different from that of undisturbed saturated alluvial clay, and are mainly affected by clay mineralogical composition of soil sample, by degree of saturation, and by mixing ratio of coarse grains.
