Pore air pressure in soil subjected to shock waves
Propagation of pore air pressure in specimens of soil subjected to shock wave was investigated; soils were uniformly graded pea gravel, standard 20 to 30 Ottawa sand, and well-graded silty sand; orientation of shock wave to soil sample was side-on, and range in nominal incident overpressure investigated was 25 to 100 psi; rate of attenuation of pore air pressure with penetration was found, as first approximation, to be independent of overpressure.
