"Efflorwick" [midline ellipsis] for efflorescence tests of mortar materials and brick
Standard wick known as "Efflorwick," developed by Ceramic Experiment Station at N Y State College of Ceramics, for testing efflorescence in brickwork, consists of cylinder 2 in. in diam and 4 in. high made of fired refined red burning brick clay; it is practically free from soluble salts which cause efflorescence, and may be used to detect soluble salts in raw clays.
