Interpreting flow phenomena in clayey media
Interaction of water and clay results in two types of phenomena -- mechanical drive of clayey particles in fluids in movement, and swelling caused by presence of certain ions in water; effective porosity concept has been defined for rock, assuming double ion layer around clay particles; relation correlating reduction in rock permeability with ion concentration was derived and checked experimentally with artificial formations made of sand and Montmorillonite; in general, qualitative check was obtained. (In French with English and Spanish abstracts)
