Building located at tip of small peninsula near port entrance is founded on 700 piles 90 cm diam, some of them 21 m long; it will house 2800-seat theater and three smaller halls; prestressed concrete roof is formed by array of huge shells suggesting ship sails and is composed of intersecting spherical segments of 75-m curvature radius; whole roof consists of 2350 cast-in-situ elements weighing from 7 to 12 tons each, and is covered with decorative white ceramic tile; description of shell assembly and method of detecting cracks by injecting structure with radioactive solution.
