Thermal efficiency of 600-ton open hearth furnaces fired with cold coke oven gas
Furnaces at Karaganda iron and steelworks were run efficiently, with flame carburized with fuel oil (30 to 35% by heat); special attention must be paid to shape of flame; compressed air is fed into it (also to vaporize oil); heat duration was reduced to 11 hr 30 min. (see also English translation in Stal in English n 12 Dec 1967 p 1034-6)
