Refining of high-temperature nickel alloys in vacuum induction furnaces
Kinetics of elimination of oxygen and nitrogen from nickel-base alloys containing 15% Cr, 6% W and 3% Mo were investigated while alloys were melted in 50 kg vacuum induction laboratory furnace and 0.5 ton operating furnace; final concentration of oxygen in alloy containing Ti and Al was about 0.001 to 0.002%; deoxidation of furnace bath is conducive to elimination of N while constant for speed at which N is eliminated in 0.5 ton furnace was about 80 to 87% lower than for other furnace.
